Biel Glasses

Our company’s name comes from Biel, a child with low vision (LV). LV is a visual impairment 7 times more common than blindness that cannot be corrected with standard glasses, medication or conventional surgery. The most disabling effects are those that hinder mobility, leading to falls, injuries, dependence, and social isolation. At Biel Glasses, we have created Biel Smartgaze, digital smart glasses that solve mobility problems and improve the personal autonomy of people with LV. The glasses use 3D vision and AI to detect obstacles, changes in the ground and other mobility hazards and then, mixed reality (XR) to display them in a way that users can perceive. The glasses also include enhancement functions such as zoom, definition and contrast to offer a complete solution for people with LV. We have already obtained CE Mark as a Class 1 MD. Moreover, we are working on the new version of BIEL SMARTGAZE, which will have integrated 5G and AI powered Galileo positioning to add safe and accessible navigation and street crossing aids allowing for people with LV to achieve full autonomy.
